Metric Lonch Monch! ❤️

Over the coming days, we'll post interesting things about MCE that most people don't know - things outside of our core business of usual heavy industrial engineering design! The first thing is: Did you know we do house and site plans? 🙂

Our junior drafters develop house plans for some local real estate agents in Whyalla. This has been a great way for our younger staff members to get out into the community and build self-confidence by being client-facing, responsible for the site measurement, and delivering the final drawing to the client. Our method uses specific software that generates not just a 2D plan, but also a 3D plan!

For the last few years we've only offered this service to real estate agents, but we're now offering this service to the broader Whyalla community! This is a great and cost-effective solution for extension planning or just documenting your existing house and site plan. We'll provide you with 2D & 3D CAD files so that if you want to take the next step to engage an architect or builder you've got all the info you need, with all the accuracy, to get the ball rolling!

If you're interested in developing a plan for your home, extension planning, for your business building, or your entire block, we can help! You can email us at houseplans@mce.com.au or call us on 08. 7120 6220, and we'll take care of the rest!

Today is #RUOK? Day. Some of our staff organised for us to take some time out to have a chat about the importance of mental health, strategies for dealing with stress and services that are available when you need help. A sneaky-peaky of our new office reno’s at 5 Forsyth Street in Whyalla. We’ll be relocating in August 2024 and can’t wait to invite or clients, colleagues, and friends to the grand opening!

We’re invested and committed to growing our regional (and Whyalla local) Mechanical, Structural, and Civil Engineering capability, while creating an engineering design hub the region needs to service the future of regional industry. #whyalla #metric

We were recently approached by a client who wanted help redesigning a spray nozzle to suit the ends of a Magnetic Separator spray bar set up. The existing unit (the yellow one) comes in one shape that directs the spray flow evenly over a certain area. However, on the ends of the spray assembly, the client had been manually modifying the design (the old cut’n shut!), to incorporate a flat end to prevent overspray onto walkways and other equipment. These manually modified nozzles worked in the short term but were never a good long term solution. We designed and 3D printed a bespoke end-nozzle from ASA for the client which was successfully trialled on site resulting in a running order of 20 end-nozzles. While this was only a small project, it was really unique for us in developing a product, and great to help our client get a solution that works. ... See MoreSee Less

Do you have a 3D printer. Hmmmmm

That's cool.

The signs are looking good for Gawler Eagles FC. We’ve finally been able to erect a sign out the front of Karbeethan Reserve in conjunction with the redevelopment taking place. It’ll feature our club, baseball and softball.

Special thanks to Ridenti Farms for making it come true. It's been on the drawing board (and on the floor of Joe's shed) for 6 years. Thanks to Metric Consulting Engineers who jumped on board with their engineers report/submission and club people who all chipped in. Even Greg the copper stuck a stick in the wet concrete like a pro.

And judging by the amount of concrete, this one’s not going anywhere. Go Eagles!

Whyalla is poised to take a huge leap forward, carving a class-leading place on the renewables map and forging a new future in Greensteel with GFG Alliance.

Building and supporting a future for local tertiary education in both trades and engineering will go a long way to attracting and consolidating the kind of population growth needed to build, maintain and grow these amazing technologies. There is so much local know-how that comes bundled with the local love, passion and pride of seeing this city, once on its knees, flourish and be the one that could, is, and will.

We’re very proud, that as a local company employing and training local people in the engineering field, that Metric Consulting Engineers get to play a small part in helping make this future a reality.

Well done Brendan.

In a world where we’re now exploring the realms of digital engineering design in 5D (Model Based Design), there are still times when only 100% analogue will do 😁 - just ask our 2 new Trainee Drafters who start in January ‘23, as they become intimately familiar with the manual drafting board. #backtobasics #metric ...
